Bitches Didn't Steal My Stuff Today

Tour Day 1

Pittsburgh's illusive fuzzy snow queen moth. Let it go. Let it go.

Time to get this blog back in business! I had an intense week of preparations for my That Is A Pegasus national tour. Without a doubt the highlight was seeing Neil Patrick Harris on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I was very familiar with the movie version starring John Cameron Mitchell, and it was thrilling to see the stage show. From the top I wanted to jump up and dance, but I don't think the blue hairs behind me would have tolerated that for long.

On a side note, I used to have a crush on John Cameron Mitchell when he played Dicken in the musical The Secret Garden. Watching him transform from wholesome nature boy to snarky transgender drag queen shattered my naive teenager brain when I realized it was the same actor. Though Dicken is quite an appropriate name in retrospect.

Before I can pack and hit the road, I attempt to get a good 12 hours sans kittens. The extra time allows to get a good clean in before the house/cat sitter arrives. Unfortunately this year, I was stuck with my brood of six babies with nowhere to place them. Thankfully in the last 12 hours before I left, all the kittens were secured with permanent new homes!

Queen Meowtifa and Neil deGrasse Tyson with their new mommas!

Finally after seven hours of cleaning and packing, we were off to our first stop in Pittsburgh. Hooray! Our hosts there were lovely, but the neighborhood had a dodgy reputation when it came to on street parking. I've had my car broken into twice on tour, biannually, so 2014 should be safe if we continue in the tradition of when bitches steal my shit. I've learned over the years not to leave ANYTHING of remote value, however, it's impossible when you travel with so much equipment to take it out of the car every time you need to leave the vehicle. So we do our best, and so far, 337 miles into it, so good. Onwards to Michigan!
