Well technically, it's here, but I go through a good bout of denial before I don my cold weather wears. I stave off the chill by wearing flip flops until my toes hurt from the cold, and then it's time to take the wool socks out of my rubbermaid storage box that the cats sit on. Twice a year I make the switcheroo in wardrobe, and the cats are always very interested the shift because it means new things to rub on.
Anyways, I try to fill my calendar with shows and extra fun things that keep me looking forward into the cold darkness. Here's a picture of Dave Haggerty, producer at the Arts Council of Princeton. We are brewing beer for the Holiday Soirée on December 5th. I'll be joined by Scott Barkan (aka Marian Call's fine east coast guitarist) and Adam Bernstein (aka Jonathan Coulton's fine bassist), and we will welcome in the holiday season with cheer and beer.
I will be having my first ever public art show at Small World Coffee (Nassau St. location) in Princeton for the month of December. We will have a little opening party on Dec. 7th 3-5pm where you can come tell me how I really captured that cat, literally and metaphorically. Hopefully I can also get a few commissioned pet portraits out of the deal too!
This weekend I'm playing some shows in VA and NC. I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest to Geeksboro Coffee's Harry Potter Yule Ball! These kids went above and beyond any themed party I've ever been too. There had butter beer, costume competitions, trivia, games, and QUIDDITCH BEER PONG. I didn't play that game, however, I did throw darts at kitten faces in Professor Umbridge's Office. TAKE THAT KITTY! FOR MISSING THE BOX ALL THOSE YEARS!
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving next week. It is by far my favorite holiday where the family comes together to be merry and sing Broadway tunes at the top of our lungs. The lot of us are a bunch of nerds, and we own multiple copies of Les Mis, Secret Garden, Chess, and Phantom of the Opera sheet music. We have several pianists in the family and friends department, and they take turn accompanying so that we can sing ALL NIGHT LONG. It's really quite the show, and I think we could start charging the public for tickets if we ever rehearsed, although truthfully that might make a better show- unpolished, a little tipsy, warm on the inside, and full of heart.
