Quandaries At A Hardcore Show
QUANDARIES AT A HARDCORE SHOW
What’s missing in your life that causes you all this rage?
The communal fallen gesture
I guess you’re just hipper than me, and I have no right to complain
I’m just asking the question ‘cuz I don’t understand what you want to communicate
When you’re screaming in my ear
I have no idea what you said, but it rings in my ear for days
I’m in for freedom, but you’re in it to shake a nerve
That’s been dying
And we’re in it together when we all want to be heard
I’m not here for the message
I’m not here for the girls
I’m not here for anger
I’m not angry at the world
I’m not here for the music
I’m not here for the scene
I’m not here to find solace or the smokes in between
I’m not here for the piercings or the scattered tattoos
The shoes are fun to look at, but I’m really here for you
It’s surreal to be in here, in a room with no windows
With noise and no magic
No one gets in if they get out, it’s all about who you know
And it’s tonal injustice, but somehow it makes you happy
And if that’s what’s important
May you be blessed with an endless supply of beer and sushi
And if I was that easy to please
I’d be twenty-two percent less interesting
I’m not here for the message
I’m not here for the girls
I’m not here for anger
I’m not angry at the world
I’m not here for the music
I’m not here for the scene
I’m not here to find solace or the smokes in between
